How Much does home care costs

Oran’s Private Home Care Service is a 2022 Scottish Care award winner and rated 5s in all categories by the Care Inspectorate. What we’re most proud of, however, is that we’ve had a 95% staff retention rate over the last two years; two of the hardest years on record for the Scottish care industry.

Oran Private Care achieves high retention rates by paying front line staff for all hours worked, at a higher hourly rate than many other care companies. We’re also big investors in training, and have established an SQA accredited training center, providing SVQ2s and SVQ3s to all our staff.

The cost for this service may be more affordable than you might think. Some of our service users choose to take their allocation of free care provided by Local Authorities (using Self Directed Support Option 1) and use this to pay for our Care Services. This allocation does not cover all care costs so service users can chose to pay a ‘top up’ fee. This is often as little as £6.50 per hour of care. You can read more about Self Directed Support Option 1 in this Scottish Care publication.

Paying for private care is, of course, your personal choice and other options are available. Importantly, we aim to carry out Care Assessments within 48 hours of you contacting us and can usually allocate carers within 3 working days. This can speed up hospital discharges or help avoid residential care alternatives.

If you’d like to talk to us more about our services, we’re happy to speak with you over the phone or in person.
