One of our experienced, friendly recruiters will contact you to discuss your interest in the job and chat about work experience. This should take about 20 minutes. If you aren’t free when we call just call us back and we can re-schedule. If you seem like a good match, we’ll invite you to an in-person interview.

Invitation to in-person interview

Only successful candidates will be invited to take part in our half-day in person Oran interview. During this exciting, interviewing event, a number of things will happen.

  • A discussion about the benefits and challenges of working at Oran Homecare.
  • A face to face interview with of our recruiters (25 to 30 mins).
  • A presentation from an Oran Care employee about a day in the life of a carer, as well as the challenges and expectations.
  • A discussion about wages, employee commitment and professional registration with Disclosure Scotland and S.S.S.C. (Scottish Social Services Council).
  • Hear about the SVQ qualifications that you can gain working with us.

If your interview goes well we’ll make you a conditional job offer and invite you back for your induction training.

While you’re doing your induction training we will check your references and apply for your PVG update. Once these are back and are satisfactory you can move to the next stage.

On the job training, sometimes called shadow shifts. These usually take place over 2 days. It is a chance to meet your future clients and work alongside an experienced carer; this is a time to listen, watch and learn.

Finally you will be assessed by one of our trained assessors. They will meet with you on your last shadow shift, observe your practice, check you understand our policies and procedures and if they feel you are competent and you feel ready they will sign you off to start working. You will get your contract, along with your starter bag. This will include your uniform, your mobile phone so you can access your rota and the electronic monitoring system and an I.D. badge.

Welcome to our team: once we have received your signed contract you will finally be an Oran Homecare employee and will be allocated your hours. Well done!
